Well the notification for CAT 2014 is out and it has come with many surprises pertaining to change in CAT pattern this year. Expertmasterji brings to you some points which you need to keep in mind as you prepare for belling the CAT-2014.
ICE BREAKERS POT :-
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India. This test scores a person on the bases of quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs
SOME CHANGES :-
1. Its 2 from 22 :- Unlike 22 days reserved for CAT exam in 2013 this year CAT exam would be held on 2 days only ie candidates wont be required to rush to register the dates in advance.
2. Time limit from 140 minutes to 170 minutes :- Total time of exam has been increased from 140 minutes to 170 minutes (2 hours and 50 minutes).
3. Questions increased :- Questions in each section have been increased to 50 in each section from the existing 30 questions.
4. Chose your time wisely :- Candidates have the flexibility to devote more or less time to each section according to their ability. One can switch over from one section to another section at any point during the examination timing.
The tutorial will not be available before the start of the examination and the candidates are advised to do the tutorials from the website well in advance.
5. IT('s) more swadeshi this year :- Unlike Prometric which was responsible for 2013 CAT exam result discrepencies this year CAT exam will be conducted by TCS (Tata Consultancy Services).
NOTE :-
There's been no change in the exam syllabus. Candidates will receive questions in four sections: Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning.
The registration for the CAT 2014 will remain open for 56 days beginning from August 6 and closing on September 30. Students will be able to download admit card from October 16 to till examination date. The results will be declared in the third week of December 2014.
